Latrobe, PA – The Oberlin College volleyball team completed its four-match weekend at the St. Vincent College Bearcat Challenge by beating both the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and La Roche College on Saturday afternoon in straight sets.
The Yeowomen finished the weekend 3-1 after splitting matches against Waynesburg and Westminster on Friday.
Senior
Maura Gibbs was named to the Bearcat Challenge All-Tournament Team for her strong play throughout the weekend.

The Yeowomen made short work of the Bobcats, winning the first set 25-13 before taking the next games by matching 25-15 counts.
Oberlin controlled the match from start to finish, hitting at a .330 clip compared to the Bobcats mark of just .010. The final kill count went 47-18 in favor of the Yeowomen.
Gibbs led the Yeowomen effort with 14 kills on 28 swings while also adding a team-best 17 digs.
Natasha Radic added 10 send-downs on 20 attempts, while rookie
Iyanna Lewis was efficient with six kills on just eight tries.
The offense was in system throughout the match as
Samantha Lam dished out 27 assists, while first-year
Lindsey Felton added 14 helpers of her own.
The sophomore tandem of
Lauren Fitts (12) and
Zoe Kuzbari (11) combined for 23 digs in the triumph.
La Roche Recap
Oberlin took advantage of multiple Red Hawk miscues to tskre own La Roche 25-17 in the first set before winning the next two by identical 25-18 scorelines.
The Red Hawks did themselves no favors as they hit -.031 for the match with 21 kills against 24 errors. Oberlin's numbers was also slightly subbed from the first match, finishing with a .191 hitting percentage with 34 kills and 17 miscues.
Once again it was Gibbs would spearheaded the effort with 17 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore middle
Emery Beacom added six kills in the win.
Lam stayed steady in the second match of the day as she assisted on 26 points for the Yeowomen.
Kuzbari and Fitts each had two service aces while combining for 21 digs along the backline.
Oberlin is back in action next weekend at the NCAC-MIAA Challenge in Dimondale, Michigan. The three-match weekend will open on Friday at 5 p.m. against Olivet College.
