Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women’s Lacrosse Dominates Gators

Oberlin, Ohio — The Oberlin College women's lacrosse team cruised to a 18-10 North Coast Athletic Conference victory versus Allegheny College on Wednesday night. 

Tess Siciliano led the Yeowomen offense that had nine players on the score sheet. The team's  leading scorer netted five goals and dished out one assist, before receiving a red card with 2:28 left in the first half. Additionally, Ali Wessel recorded a hat trick with three other Yeowomen scoring more than one goal. 

Siciliano got off to a hot start as she netted the first three goals of the game before the Gators got on the board with 20:57 on the clock. Oberlin blew the game open as they scored 10 of the next 11 goals in the contest giving them a 12-2 advantage when Hayley Drapkin converted on a free-position attempt. The Gators would score two before the first-half horn sounded. 

In the second half, the Yeowomen took care of business answering every goal the Gators put on the board leaving no doubt in the outcome. Juliet Mooney scored two, while Kyra Aviles, Sabrina Deleonibus, Bette Imhoff and Emily Berner registered goals in the final 30 minutes of play. Berner earned a spot on the score sheet for the first time this season while also assisting on Aviles' transition goal. 

On the other end of the field, Berner finished the game with three caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Drapkin also caused three turnovers to got along with her three assists and one goal. 

Siena Marcelle and Maranda Phillips split time in between the pipes. Marcelle finished with six saves and registered the win, while Phillips stopped six Gator shots in the final 30 minutes of play. 

Overall,Oberlin dominated the stat sheet, outshooting Allegheny 33-27, and picking up 15 of the 29 loose balls. The Yeowomen also won the battle for the draw (17-13), with Drapkin picking up a team-high four in the game. 

The victory moves Oberlin to 3-2 in NCAC play and 4-7 on the year. Allegheny drops to 1-3 in conference and 4-8 overall. 

Oberlin will be back in action next Tuesday when it faces the Kenyon College Ladies in a crucial NCAC clash set to start at 5 p.m.
