Men’s Lacrosse Drops Spring Break Opener to Elmhurst

Whittier, CA – The Oberlin College men's lacrosse team dropped its first game of spring break, falling 20-6 to Elmhurst College on the campus of Whitter College on Tuesday afternoon.

The Yeomen offense never got going as they were held to just one goal in each of the first three quarters and the Blue Jays would bust the game wide open with seven goals in both the second and third quarters to leave no doubt in the outcome.

Freshman midfielder Alex Dovichi had three of the Yeomen's goals as he ran his career account to four.

Statistically, the game was much closer than the final score indicated as they Yeomen won 18-of-28 face-offs while finishing with a slight 32-30 edge in ground balls. Max McAllister went 10-of-15 on the draw and scooped up a team-high seven ground balls, while Maurice Freese won 8-of-12 battles at the face-off X.

However, the Blue Jays had a 47-42 advantage in shots, including a 32-23 margin in shots on goal. Mac Harden led their efforts with nine points as he recorded seven goals and two assists in the win.

Calvin Filson made 12 saves over the first three quarters before he departed prior to the fourth.

Oberlin and Elmhurst are now each 3-4 on the season. The Yeomen will take on Whitter on Thursday night at 8:30 PM EDT.
