Hilton Head, South Carolina — The Oberlin College men's tennis team fell to Carleton College, 8-1, in a battle of nationally ranked team's at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center.
The Yeomen fell behind 3-0 as the Knights won all three doubles match-ups. The closest contested doubles match came at No. 3 as
Zachary Vaughn and
Matthew Gittings battled, but ultimately fell 8-4 to Carleton's Jonas Lindholm-Uzzi and William Walsh.
In singles, Carleton sealed the victory with wins in the fourth and sixth flights. After the outcome was already decided rookie
James Dill would come back to beat the Knights Jordon O'Kelly. After dropping the first game 6-4, Dill won the second 7-6 and got the point in the third, 10-6.
Camron Cohen won the first game 6-2 in the third flight, but Aaron Godoman would win the final two games to tack to the Knights lead.
The loss drops the Yeomen to 2-8 on the year, but they will have a chance to bounce back on Tuesday as they face Union College at 8:30 a.m.
