Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's basketball team celebrated senior day with a 78-60 defeat of the visiting Hiram College Terriers on Saturday afternoon at Philips Gym.

Oberlin got off to a hot start in the first quarter. After trailing 7-4 in the early going, the Yeowomen used an 18-4 run that was capped off by one Stipano's five threes in the game to give them a 22-11 lead 10 minutes into the game.
Midway through the second quarter Oberlin was well in command with a 31-20 lead in hand but the Yeowomen would go on to score 10 of the final 12 points of the frame while holding Hiram scoreless for the final 3:55 to carry a 41-22 cushion into the locker room. The 10-2 run featured six points from Stipano along the way.
Early in the third quarter a Ross jumper gave Oberlin its first 20-point advantage of the game but the Terriers wouldn't go away quietly. After falling behind by as many as 23, Hiram rallied to shrink the margin down to just 12, 52-40, with 1:44 left in the session.
The Terriers tried to claw their way back into the game but Oberlin continued to answer the call when needed. It was a 66-54 OC advantage with 4:28 still to expire but a 9-2 spurt that was capped off by another Stipano triple-hit left no doubt in the eventual outcome.
The Yeowomen shot 42.5 percent (31-of-73) from the floor while the Terriers checked in at 38.5 percent (25-of-65). Oberlin won all the hustle categories, out-rebounding the Terriers 51-35 while out-scoring them 38-24 in the paint. The Yeowomen also had a 17-11 edge in fastbreak points.
The victory ran Oberlin's record to 14-9 overall and 9-5 in the NCAC. Hiram fell back to 9-15 and 3-12 in league play.
