Yeomen Rout Terriers on Senior Day

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team turned in a commanding 90-61 victory over the Hiram College Terriers on senior day at Philips Gym.

Oberlin's lone senior Eli Silverman-Lloyd did not disappoint in his final home game as he led a foursome of Yeomen in double figures with 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting, which included a 5-of-9 showing from beyond the arc. The Culver City, California, native also matched Joshua Friedkin with a team-high seven rebounds. Friedkin also continued his torrid play, registering his first-career double-double with 15 points and a career-high 10 assists.

Junior Christian Fioretti was an efficient 6-of-8 from the floor as he posted 16 points to accompany his six rebounds and four assists. After missing his first three shots, classmate Andre Campbell caught fire as he registered 18 points on 9-of-14 shooting.

The first 15 minutes of the game were closely contested with no more than four points separating the two foes on either side. Oberlin was clinging to a 23-22 lead with just under eight minutes left to play in the half but would go on to score 23 more points while holding Hiram to just six tallies for the remainder of the session.

A 3-pointer from Silverman-Lloyd extended the lead out to 34-24, and Fioretti and Isaac Finestone would then follow with long-range strikes of their own to extend the lead out to 16.

After leading by 18 at the intermission, Oberlin would quickly balloon the margin out to 24 on back-to-back triple-hits from Silverman-Lloyd. It was an omen of what was to come for the Terriers as they would get no closer than 18 points the rest of the way.

A baseline jumper from Campbell at the 8:52 mark gave Oberlin its first 30-point lead of the game at 78-48. The Yeomen's largest lead came with 6:14 left to play on a fastbreak layup from Silverman-Lloyd that made it 86-51.

Oberlin shot a blistering 58.3 percent from the floor, tying a season-high with 35 makes on 60 shots. Hiram checked in at 40.3 percent, hitting on 25 of the 62 shots they hoisted. The Yeomen had a 36-26 edge on the glass and ended with a 17-8 advantage in fastbreak points.

In addition to honoring Silverman-Lloyd before the game, Oberlin also recognized junior Patrick Smith, who is a 3-2 engineering major and will be completing his degree at Washington University in St. Louis. Smith started today's game by making an administrative technical free throw.

The Yeomen have now won three straight games, running their record to 13-10 overall and in the process set a new school record for North Coast Athletic Conference victories in a season as they are now 9-7. Hiram heads home at 11-12 and 8-8 in league play.

Oberlin is back in action on Wednesday night as they travel to No. 9 Wooster to take on the first-place Scots. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
