Yeomen Return to Kenyon for NCAC Semifinal Match

Oberlin, Ohio – The fourth-seeded Oberlin College men's soccer team will try to knock off the top-seeded Lords of Kenyon on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the North Coast Athletic Conference Semifinals.
 
The Yeomen are returning to Gambier a week after falling to the Lords 5-1 in regular season play on October 30.
 
Kenyon is ranked fifth in the nation according to D3Soccer.com and enters as the defending champion. The Lords went undefeated in conference play at 7-0-2 and sit at 15-1-2 overall.
 
Oberlin comes in riding the high of a thrilling 1-0 overtime win on Saturday over Wabash, which paired with DePauw's loss to Kenyon, gave the Yeomen the fourth and final playoff spot at 5-4 in NCAC play and 8-10 overall.
 
The Lords have an explosive offensive attack that was on display against the Yeomen as they rank second in the conference with 23 goals in nine NCAC matches. Kenyon is also stout defensively as they sport a 0.70 goals against average which ranks second against conference foes as well.
 
Oberlin returns to the NCAC Tournament for the first time since 2016 where they beat Wabash in the semifinals before falling to top seeded Kenyon 2-1 in double overtime.
 
The Yeomen's leading goal scorer and point getter is Nic Jandeleit who finished the regular season tied for third in the conference with eight goals, one of which came in the defeat to Kenyon. Oberlin is fourth in conference goals with 12 but needs to sure up the backline if it wants to prevail as they allow 2.13 goals against to NCAC competition.
 
The winner of this match will take on the winner of No. 2 Ohio Wesleyan and No. 3 Wabash on Saturday, November 9 at the highest remaining seed.
