Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Oberlin Beats Hiram, Continues Playoff Push

Oberlin, Ohio – After allowing an early goal, the Oberlin College men's soccer team came back to win 2-1 on Saturday night and improve to 3-2 in conference play.

The win pushes the Yeomen to over .500 in the North Coast Athletic Conference and in a three-way tie for the fourth and final playoff spot with four games to play.

Hiram opened the scoring in the second minute as the Oberlin goalkeeper got caught out of the net and Isaac Opoku took advantage from just outside the box to put the Yeomen behind in a hurry.

The Yeomen tightened up their play for the remainder of the half and held a 4-3 advantage in shots at the break.

Oberlin knotted it up in the 57th minute as Nic Jandeleit scored via a penalty kick for his team-high sixth goal of the season.

The Yeomen attack kept up the pressure and were rewarded with a free kick from outside the box in the 63rd minute that Charlie Stube buried in the bottom right corner for his second goal of the season.

After that initial Terriers goal, the Yeomen defense bunkered down and only allowed three shots on frame the rest of the way as Fiachra McDonagh picked up his second win of the season in his third start.

Oberlin heads to Denison on Wednesday, October 23rd for a 7:00 p.m. match against the 5-7-1 (2-3 NCAC) Big Red.
