Oberlin was clinging to a six-point lead with 2:52 still to expire and the Terriers would not go away without a fight. A couple of careless turnovers by the Yeomen turned into points for Hiram as Marcel Rice's backdown layup shrunk the cushion down to just 71-68 with 86 seconds to go.
The Yeomen would come up empty on their next possession and then send Antonio McQueen to the line for two charity tosses but he missed them both to preserve the 3-point lead. The victory snapped a two-game skid for the Yeomen as they ran their record to 8-6 on the year and 4-3 in the NCAC. Hiram fell back to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in league play.
