Colorado Springs, CO — The Oberlin College Yeowomen lacrosse team fell short against the Colorado College Tigers, 15-13, in game one of the teams spring trip.
The Tigers outscored the Yeowomen 3-1 down the stretch to earn the victoyr. The game was tied 12-12 when
Natalie Rauchle netted her fifth goal of the game at the 9:21.
Siena Marcelle kept Oberlin in the game all day. Despite facing a season-high 43 shots, the junior goalkeeper made a career-high 21 saves in the contest.
On the offensive end, Rauchle led the Oberlin offense with a six goal performance.
Eliza Amber added three and
Ali Wessel accounted for two of the Yeowomen tallies.
In a first half that featured three ties, the Yeowomen pulled away before the intermission as they netted the final four goals of the half to take an 8-4 lead into halftime. Amber and Rauchle led the Oberlin offensive attack as they each netted first half hat tricks.
The Tigers outscored the Yeowomen 6-2 in the first 12 minutes of the second half to tie the game at 10-10 with 19:52 left to play.
On the stat sheet, Oberlin controlled the draw as they won 17 of the 30 draws and finished the night 12-of-20 on the clear. The Tigers won the battle for ground balls, 29-27.
With the loss the Yeowomen fall to 2-2 on the year and Colorado improves to 6-3.
Oberlin will look to rebound against Hamline University on Wednesday night in its final game in the state of Colorado. The opening draw is slated for 1:00 p.m. MDT and 3:00 p.m. EST.
