Field Hockey Drops Season Finale at Wooster

Wooster, Ohio — The Oberlin College field hockey fell to The College of Wooster Fighting Scots, 5-1, in its season finale at John P. Papp Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Oberlin got two shots off early the first half, as Reet Goraya's first attempt was blocked. Three minutes later, the junior had an opportunity but Wooster's keeper Lida LeVine made a save to keep the game scoreless.

The Fighting Scots registered the only two goals of the period.  Grace O'Leary and Maeven Barry beat the Yeowomen goalkeeper to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

After the intermission, Wooster tacked on two goals before the Yeowomen could get on the board. Amelia Huang gathered her own rebound and scored her second goal of the season in her final game in the crimson and gold with 8:51 left on the clock.

Wooster would tack an insurance goal late, but senior goalkeeper Kennedy Kline held her ground the whole game as she fended off 17 Wooster shots, just three shy of her season-best performance. Kline finished her senior campaign with 183 saves and 459 career stops.

Oberlin dropped to 1-17 this season, while the Scots move to 14-5 overall and 10-4 in conference play.

The Yeowomen will bid farewell to their seven seniors and begin preparing for the 2019 season in the non-traditional spring season.
