Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Unable to Keep Up with Wooster

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team got off to a slow start and was never able to recover as The College of Wooster Fighting Scots rolled past the Yeomen, 89-59, on Wednesday night at Philips Gym.

Sophomore Joshua Friedkin led the Yeomen with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Eli Silverman-Lloyd and Jordan Armstrong each added 11 points. Wooster had four of its five starters in double figures, led by a game-high 21 points from Reece Dupler.

The Scots wasted no time building an early 18-6 lead and eventually pushed the advantage out to 20, 39-19, with 2:39 left to play in the opening half. However, the Yeomen closed the frame with a 10-2 run that featured a pair of threes from Silverman-Lloyd that cut the deficit down 12 at 41-29 heading into the break.

Unfortunately, the Scots came out of the locker room hot and quickly regained control of the game as they extended their lead out to 52-31 in less than three minutes. Oberlin would get no closer than 16 points in the second half as Wooster continued to pour it on offensively.

Oberlin committed 19 turnovers that turned into 26 points for the Scots. Wooster also used its size advantage to outscore the Yeomen 47-20 in the paint, and win the rebounding battle 36-26.

The Yeomen shot 43.1 percent (22-of-51) from the floor, while the Scots checked in at an impressive 53.2 percent (33-of-62) clip.

The win ran Wooster's record to 16-4 overall and 10-3 in the NCAC. Oberlin dropped back to 9-11 overall and 3-10 in the NCAC.

The Yeomen have one of their toughest tests of the season on Saturday afternoon as they travel to No. 3 Wittenberg to take on the 20-0 Tigers at 3 p.m.
