Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College field hockey team dropped a non-conference game against Christopher Newport University by a score of 6-0 on homecoming weekend in the Knowlton Complex.
Despite the loss, junior goalkeeper
Kennedy Kline had a strong showing as she made a career-high 19 saves and faced all 44 of the Captains shots.
Oberlin, who lost to Christopher Newport by a score of 7-0 a season ago, struggled against the relentless Captains midfield defense.
Amelia Huang had the lone offensive opportunity for the Yeowomen in the 25
th minute. Huang fired a shot that was knocked down by a Captains defender in front of the cage.
The Christopher Newport offense scored four goals in the first half and just two in the second as Kline made 10 of her 19 saves in the second half.
Oberlin looks to snap its three game skid on Sunday when it travels to Richmond, Indiana for a neutral site game against the Sewanee Tigers at 11 a.m.
