Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Yeomen Struggle at Capital

BEXLEY, Ohio - In the third consecutive match against an Ohio Athletic Conference opponent, Oberlin College men's lacrosse couldn't find the magic as they were defeated 22-9 by the Capital University Crusaders on Saturday afternoon.

A one-goal second quarter proved to be the difference maker in Central Ohio as they Crusaders posted eight goals in the second to gain a 13-3 advantage before the halftime break. Out of the intermission, the Yeomen's offense remained stagnant, while the Crusaders added six more scores and held the Crimson and Gold scoreless through the third.

Oberlin found six tallies in the fourth quarter but it was too little too late in Bexley. The Yeomen were led offensively by Reese Koburov, who netted three goals on 10 shots.

Behind Koburov was Eric Hager who flung home two goals and registered a team-best two assists followed by a quartet of Yeomen who found the back of the Capital net. John Sutherland, Jake Parentis, Ian McCague and Regan Chasney all managed to notch a goal in the loss.

On the faceoff, Kinori Rosnow had another quality outing, leading the Yeomen in ground balls with 11 while going 21-of-34 on the draw.

In goal, first-year Calvin Filson posted two saves after facing a bombardment from the Crusaders.

The loss on Saturday means the Yeomen are still searching for their first win of the season as they dropped back to 0-3.

Oberlin men's lacrosse returns to action on Saturday, March 4, when they travel to Olivet College. The opening faceoff between the Yeomen and Comets is slated for 2 p.m.
