ROCHESTER, N.Y. – On their final day in upstate New York, the Oberlin College field hockey team was handed an 8-1 defeat by the St. John Fisher Cardinals.
Offensive woes continued for the Yeowomen after tallying just four shots against the University of Rochester on Saturday. The Cardinals played stifling defense, allowing one goal on seven Oberlin shots.
Junior keeper
Maggie Gossiaux had a rough outing, making an early exit after allowing eight goals. She finished with 10 saves against the Cardinals.
First-year
Kennedy Kline made a successful debut in net for the Yeowomen. The Philadelphia native made five stops in 20-plus minutes in goal.
Junior attacker
Ariana Enzerink led Oberlin's offensive charge with three shots on goal in the second stanza. In the 66
th minute, Enzerink found the lone Oberlin goal of the day on an assist from first-year
Meggie Parker. The score marks Enzerink's first of the year.
Junior midfielder
Maureen Coffey, who notched the lone Oberlin goal yesterday, fired three shots at the Cardinal net, but only one hit the target.
The Yeowomen will return to the Buckeye State for the 2015 home opener scheduled for Wednesday, September 9 at 4:30 p.m.
Oberlin will play host to the Big Red of Denison University on Bailey Field to open North Coast Athletic Conference competition.
