Volleyball Cruises Past Penn State-Fayette

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College volleyball hit an impressive .407 en route to cruising past Penn State-Fayette in straight sets on Wednesday night at Philips Gym. The Yeowomen soared over the Lions 25-7, 25-19 and 25-12.

Ave Spencer and Dana Thomas led the Oberlin attack with 10 kills each as Meredith Leung had the offense in rhythm with 34 assists.

Leung and Krista Langhans dropped in four aces each, accounting for eight of the team's 10 aces. Leung also added a team-best 10 digs, while Langhans and Molly Powers chipped in with nine each.

The Yeowomen let their dominance be known for the onset, opening up an 11-3 lead in the first set and never looking back.

The second set was more closely contested as Fayette trailed just 15-12 midway through, but Oberlin would go on to score five of the game's next six points to leave no doubt in the eventual outcome.

Oberlin gave the Lions no hope in the third as three straight aces by Leung put the Yeowomen out front 14-5. The set and match would ultimately come to an end on back-to-back aces by Langhans.

The victory moved Oberlin's record to 3-7 and snapped a four-match losing skid in the process. Fayette fell to 6-7.

The busy week will continue for the Yeowomen on Friday night as they open NCAC play at Kenyon before returning home to host both Wooster and Earlham on Saturday.
