University Heights, Ohio – Oberlin College women's lacrosse traveled back to the campus of John Carroll University, but this time to battle the Blue Streaks. Six different Yeowomen registered scores in the 11-6 victory to advance Oberlin to 3-1 overall.
The Blue Streaks took a quick 2-0 lead in the first three minutes of the contest before the Oberlin attack caught fire.
Junior
Grace Barlow, who finished with a hat trick, claimed the first Oberlin goal at the 25:58 mark before
Sara Phister collected her two goals of the game in a three minute span. Phister found the equalizer on an man-up opportunity with 21:27 remaining in the half before tabbing the go-ahead goal at 18:25.
With under 15 minutes left in the first frame, first-year
Sydney Garvis pulled the Yeowomen ahead, 4-2, with her first score of the match.
After a John Carroll goal, Barlow and sophomore
Maggie Mullard extended the Oberlin advantage to three, 6-3, heading into the half.
Early in the second half, senior
Kate Hanick netted her two goals of the game to push the score to 8-4 in Oberlin's favor. Junior
Suzanna Doak gave the Yeowomen a 9-4 advantage before Barlow posted her third tally of the night with 19:17 remaining in the contest. Hanick finished with two goals and two assists in the win.
Barlow's three goals marks the third consecutive hat trick for the Elm Grove, Wisconsin, native and marks the fourth 3+ goal performance of the year. Barlow also finished with an assist on the Hanick's second goal.
Two John Carroll goals would cut their deficit to four, 10-6, before Garvis capped off the victory under five minutes to play by recording the Yeowomen's final goal of the game.
In net,
Alexa L'Insalata finished with five saves, moving her season total to 16.
Mullard and
Morgan Daruwala were the most successful Yeowomen on the draw, finishing with two each.
The Yeowomen will return to action when they host DePauw University on Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m.
After the Yeowomen host the Tigers on Saturday, they will head west to battle the University of Puget Sound, George Fox University and Pacific University over spring break.
