Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Road Woes Continue for the Yeomen

Granville, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team was unable to slow down the Denison University Big Red, falling 90-68 at Livingston Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.

With the loss the Yeomen dropped to 8-12 overall and 4-9 in the NCAC, while moving to just 2-9 on the road this season. Denison improved to 12-8 and 6-7 in the league.

Nathan Cohen was the lone Yeoman in double figures as he finished with 17 points. Randy Ollie added nine points and 10 boards before fouling out, while Miles Gueno chipped in with eight points off the bench.

The Yeomen got off to an extremely slow start and were never able to recover. The Big Red scored the first 11 points of the game and later led 18-1. Oberlin's first field goal of the game didn't come until the 12:41 mark on Sam Kreisberg's jumper in the paint.

The Big Red came out hot and stayed hot. They knocked down 13 of their first 16 shots to ultimately grab a 33-13 cushion with 7:00 left in the frame. Denison, which connected on 21-of-30 (70%) attempts in the first half – including an 8-of-11 (72.7%) showing from 3-point land - took a 56-27 lead into the locker room.

In the second half it was more of the same as the eventual outcome was never in doubt.

The Big Red had four players finish in double figures as Robby Weingart and Briggs King paced their attack with 14 points each. As a team they finished at 52.6-perent shooting (32-of-61). For the second time this year they cashed in 13 3-pointers against the Yeomen and in two games shot 57.7-percent (26-of-45) from beyond the arc.

Oberlin will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when it travels south to take on Wittenberg University at 3 p.m.
