OBERLIN, Ohio – Though Oberlin College women's basketball had a tough night offensively, second-year
Tyler Parlor finished with her second double-double of the season in a, 52-50, loss to the College of Wooster.
It was a low scoring affair inside Philips Gymnasium as the Oberlin College basketball team had a suspect night on the floor.
As a unit, Oberlin shot 19-of-76 (25%) from the floor compared to Wooster's 22-of-75 (29.3%) performance from the field. Offensive leaders
Lindsey Bernhardt and
Caroline Hamilton struggled against the Fighting Scots, shooting 3-of-24 (12.5%) and 2-of-16 (12.5%), respectively.
Parlor continues to develop and grow in head coach
Kerry Jenkins system, as the sophomore finished with 12 points on 5-of-11 (45.4%) shooting with a game-high 13 rebounds to accompany three assists one block and two steals.
Despite the offensive yips, Bernhardt led the Yeowomen with 13 points.
Abby Andrews just missed out on her first double-double performance of the season with 10 points (5-of-9; 55.5%) and nine rebounds. First-year
Olivia Canning was the only other Yeowomen to tally double-figures on the glass, finishing with 11 rebounds to accompany her career-high six blocks. She finished with four points.
Wooster led the matchup for over 27 minutes, which began by taking a 12-9 lead into the second quarter. The Yeowomen stormed back with 15 in the next 10 minutes to take a slim, 24-20 lead into the halftime break.
To open the third quarter, the Fighting Scots went on a 16-1 run in the initial seven minutes. Oberlin managed to cut the Wooster lead back to two, 36-34, heading into the final stanza.
The Yeowomen attempted to claw back to a lead in the remaining ten minutes, but Wooster was resilient. Bernhardt roared to life in the fourth, registering 8 of her 13 in the period, including a three-ball that cut the Wooster lead to one just 1:04 into the frame.
Down the stretch it was missed shots that forced the Yeowomen to their second North Coast Athletic Conference loss of the campaign and slide back to .500 overall at 5-5.
Oberlin women's basketball will return the action on Saturday, December 12, as they take on the dangerous Tigers of DePauw University. Tipoff from Greencastle, Indiana is slated for 1 p.m.
