ResultsWooster, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field teams were in action on Friday night in a dual meet at the College of Wooster.
Even with a limited a roster due to winter term, Oberlin was still able to turn in some promising performances. However, the Yeomen fell 77-66, while the Yeowomen were defeated 95-47.
On the men's side it was junior
Geno Arthur who blistered the field in both the 1,000-meter run and the mile. In the 1,000 he was seven seconds better than the second-place finisher, clocking a time of 2:40.47. He then ran the mile in 4:25.02, which was good for over a nine-second victory.
Sam Black added a Yeomen win in the 60-meter sprint as he stopped the clock in 7.42.
E.J. Douglas kept up the winning ways, completing the 3,000-meter trek in 9:11.37.
Oberlin won both the 4x200 and 4x400 relays. In the shorter distance it was
Jerry Choi,
Evan Finch, Black and
James Tanford who posted a winning time of 1:35.32. Tanford led off the longer race and was followed by Finch, Garrett Combs and Choi.
In the field events,
Nathan Danko dominated the competition in the pole vault, clearing 13-07.25.
On the women's side first-year
Caracol Haley took the top spot in the 1,000 in 3:09.78.
Junior
Sarel Loewus added a win in the 3,000 meters, completing the course in 11:03.30, while senior
Rose Stoloff was victorious in the mile at 6:14.76.
The Yeowomen turned in a near five-second win in the 4x400 relay as
Ashley Parish led off the group finished in 4:19.87. She was followed by
Nora Ryan, Haley and
Margaret Miller.
In the shot put the Oberlin women claimed the top two spots with rookie
Ana Richardson taking first place with a toss 36-02.
Amethyst Carey followed with a heave of 33-11.50.
The track and field teams are back in action next Friday and Saturday at the University of Findlay Classic.
