Gambier, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's basketball team was unable to find its offensive rhythm, dropping an early season conference clash at Kenyon College, 65-45, on Wednesday night at Tomsich Arena.
The Yeomen shot a season-low 33.3-percent, connecting on just 16-of-48 shots in the game, which included a subpar 3-of-18 (16.7%) from beyond the arc.
Only two Yeomen finished in double figures as
Nathan Cohen led the Yeomen with a season-high 13 points, while
Randy Ollie added 12 points to go along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
The Lords used a 13-0 run to open up an 18-5 lead midway through the first half. They would later increase the margin to 15 before ultimately taking a 30-16 advantage into the locker room at the intermission.
Oberlin tried to fight back, starting the second half on a mini 7-2 spurt that featured five points from Ollie to make it a 32-23 game with 17:19 left to play. Unfortunately, that was the last time the Yeomen would see their deficit in single digits the rest of the way.
The Lords had four players finish in double figures led by Tim Connolly's 15. As a team they shot 38.5-percent (25-of-65) from the floor and were 50-percent from 3-point land (7-of-14).
The loss marked the Yeomen's second of the season and the first against a Division III school as they dropped to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC. Kenyon moved to 2-3 overall and ran its league mark to an even 1-1.
Oberlin returns to action on Saturday, December 6 at Wabash College. Tip-time is set for 3 p.m.
