Oberlin, Ohio – Oberlin College women's basketball couldn't handle the 16
th ranked DePauw University Tigers as the Yeowomen were defeated, 77-48, in Saturday afternoon action from Philips Gymnasium.
First-year
Anna Moore finished with a career-high 15 points off of the bench to lead the Yeowomen in the loss. Moore shot 6-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-5 from the line, finishing with four rebounds and a game-high three blocks.
Coming off of a double-double performance last night at Wooster, lone senior
Christina Marquette was held to 10 points and seven rebounds against the Tigers.
Sophomore
Connie Estevez added nine points off of the bench for the Yeowomen.
The high-powered Tigers took an early lead and extended it to double-figures at the 13:13 mark. Trailing 21-6, a three-ball from Estevez and Marquette layup cut the Tiger lead to 10 before the DePauw offense caught fire.
In the final 9:50, the Tigers went on a 16-5 run to end the half and take a 37-16 advantage.
The Yeowomen just didn't have an answer for the Tigers in the second half. DePauw reached their largest lead of the contest, 59-22, at the 11:18 mark and cruised to a 29-point victory.
Senior Savannah Trees, who tallied a game-high 22 points, on 10-of-13 shooting, led the Tigers offensively. Fellow senior Emma Ondik was the only other DePauw lady to score in double-figures, finishing with 14 points and three assists.
The Oberlin women will take time off to close out the academic semester. The Oberlin ladies return to the hardwood on December 30, when they travel to Kalamazoo College. Tip off between the Yeowomen and Hornets is slated for 7:30 p.m.
