Christina Marquette led Oberlin College with a double-double performance in the Yeowomen's 90-55 win over the College of Wooster.
Marquette came alive in for a season-high 25 points and 11 rebounds to accompany her five assists, three steals and two blocks.
The Oberlin women went on a 19-3 run in the early minutes of the first half to take a 26-10 lead. The Scots trimmed the Yeowomen advantage to single digits at the 7:01 mark, 30-22, but the Oberlin offense wasn't finished.
In the final minute of the first stanza, a
Caroline Hamilton three-pointer sparked a five-point run to Oberlin into the locker room with a 45-34 advantage.
The Yeowomen maintained dominance at the start of the second half by outscoring the Scots, 20-10. Junior
Lindsey Bernhardt registered 14 of Oberlin's first 28 second-half points to oprn up a 73-46 advantage.
A high-pressure defensive effort held Wooster to just nine points in the final 6:55 to allow the Yeowomen earn their first North Cost Athletic Conference win of the season.
On the night, Bernhardt finished with 23points, four assists and three boards. The junior went 5-of-9 beyond the arch, marking a season-high three-point percentage. Hamilton tallied 11-points, two rebounds,two assists and two steals in the win.
The Oberlin women, under the guidance of head coach
Kerry Jenkins, improve to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC with top-ranked DePauw on tap tomorrow.
The Yeowomen welcome the 16
th ranked Tigers to Philips Gymnasium for a 3 p.m. tip off tomorrow afternoon. The women's game will be the second half of a men's-women's double-header. The Yeomen will tip at 1 p.m.
