Meadville, PA – Select members of the Oberlin College track and field teams were in action on Friday night in effort to improve upon their respective marks in terms of the national meet.

In the field events rookie Larisa Lewis bested her own school record in the shot put with a toss of 41-04.50 to place second overall in the event.

Oberlin's record-setting 4x100-meter relay team of Margaret Miller, Jasmine Owens, Marissa Clardy and Sophia Bracazio were five one-hundredths of a second back of their seed time of 48.72, stopping the clock at 48.77 on this day.

The women's 4x400 grouping of Brancazio, Miller, Caroline Summa and Clardy was scheduled to run as well, but apparently were scratched at the last minute.

On the men's side Jerry Choi was back of his seed time in the 400-meter hurdles as he finished fourth overall with a mark of 55.08. Daniel Johnson was also shy of his season-best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as he completed the course in 10:00.55.

The team members will still have more opportunities to improve their marks next week at either the Ron Althoff Invitational on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University or at the North Central College Gregory Invitational.
