Track and Field Competes at All-Ohio and Bucknell

Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic Results

Delaware, Ohio - The Oberlin College track and field teams performed well on Saturday as sophomores Emma Lehmann and Jerry Choi took home top-three finishes at the All-Ohio Championships and  junior Molly Martorella broke a school record at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic.
 
The women took sixth overall out of 20, while the men finished 12th among the field of 20 at the All-Ohio Championships on Ohio Wesleyan University's campus.
 
Lehmann led the Yeowomen at the All-Ohio Championships by winning the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:30.42.
 
Sophomore Margaret Miller followed as she took sixth in the 100-meter dash by crossing the finish at 12.86, while senior Marissa Clardy finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.68.
 
Senior Piper Nash finished in fourth place in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:26.24.
 
In relays, the squad of Clardy, Miller, junior Katrina Gelwick, and first-year Caroline Summa won the 4x400-meter with a time of 3:58.19. In the 4x100-meter relay, the team of Miller, Clardy, Summa, and sophomore Ashley Parish took fourth, crossing at 50.48.
 
On the men's side, Choi led the Yeomen as he placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.78.
 
In the 1500-meter run, junior Jimmy Taylor ran a third-place time of 3:58.85, while freshman Geno Arthur took fifth in the 5000-meter run, crossing at 15:15.21.
 
In the field events, senior Alex Guo took third in the triple jump with a distance of 43-01.75.
 
In addition to All-Ohio, a number of Yeowomen runners took part in the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. Leading the way was Martorella who broke the school record in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 35:11.36. Martorella's time is a lifetime best and also ranks as the fastest 10,000-meter time in NCAA Division-III this year.
 
In addition to Martorella, every other Oberlin runner that competed in the 10,000-meter finished with lifetime bests. Lauren Taylor (37:11.98), Lindsay Neal (37:25.75), Sarah Jane Kerwin (37:25.94), Erica Morelli (38:52.15), and Hannah Wolfe (38:56.12) rounded out the Yeowomen runners at Bucknell.
 
The Oberlin men and women will compete in their next meet on April 20 when they travel to Baldwin Wallace University for a 10 a.m. start.
