Emory Classic Results
Atlanta, Ga. – The Oberlin College men's and women's track and field teams finished the Emory Classic strong in their second day of competition.
First-year
Larisa Lewis led the Yeowomen by breaking the school record in the shot put with a throw of 39-09.25. Lewis' distance was good for a second place finish in the event. Lewis also took sixth in the discus with a distance of 102-04.
First-year
Amethyst Carey also did well in the discus, as her throw of 110-08 was good for fourth place.
On the track, junior
Sophia Brancazio had strong performances in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash with two top-ten finishes. Brancazio took eighth in the 100 with a time of 12.70 and ninth in the 200 with a time of 25.91.
Senior
Marissa Clardy finished with a fifth-place time of 59.08 in the 400-meter dash, while sophomore
Margaret Miller followed in 11th at 1:00.23.
In relays, the 4x400 team of Brancazio, Miller, Clardy, and junior
Katrina Gelwick took fourth after they crossed at 4:00.24.
On the men's side, senior
Alexander Guo led Oberlin by winning the triple jump with a distance of 44-03.25.
Thomas Hickey also did well in field events, as he took ninth in the discus with a throw of 117.01.
In track events, the 4x400-meter relay team of first-year
Joshua Urso, senior Terrence Embry, junior
Quinn Hull, and sophomore
Jerry Choi took eighth with a time of 3:37.69.
Urso and Hull also went on to finish with top-15 times in the 800-meter run. Urso took twelfth with a time of 1:59.15, while Hull finished in 15th at 1:59.95.
The Oberlin track and field teams will continue their season on April 5 when they travel to Bucknell University. Events are set to begin at 5 p.m.
