Track and Field Competes at Emory Classic

Emory Classic Day One Results

Atlanta, Ga. - The Oberlin College men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the first day of the Emory Classic on Friday with a number of strong performances, most notably in field events.
 
The Yeomen and Yeowomen threw well on Friday, while it was some Oberlin athletes' first time taking part in certain events in competition.
 
Some of those performances came from Oberlin first-year Larisa Lewis and sophomore Daniel Tadros. Lewis took fourth in the hammer throw in her first time throwing in competition with a distance of 123-01, while Todros' 137-10 throw in the javelin was good for seventh in his first outing in the event.
 
Freshman Thomas Hickey turned in a sixth-place finish for the Yeomen in the hammer throw, with a distance of 117-11.
 
For the Yeowomen, sophomore Elizabeth Wilson took sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 116-02 and finished in seventh place in the javelin with a throw of 100-10.
 
In track events, sophomore Jerry Choi  led the Yeomen with a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a lifetime second-best time of 55.56.
 
For the Yeowomen, senior Piper Nash took third in the steeple chase, crossing the finish line at 11:31.25.
 
Oberlin will continue the Emory Classic on Day Two, March 30. Events are set to begin at 11 a.m.
