Westerville, Ohio- The Oberlin College men's and women's track and field teams featured several strong performances on Saturday at the All-Ohio Indoor Track and Field Championships at Otterbein University, including a fourth place overall finish for the Yeowomen.
Senior
Alexander Guo took fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 43-10.50, while sophomore
Evan Finch placed 10th in the high jump after clearing a personal best 6-1.50.
Senior
Matt Bernstein led the Yeomen in long distance with an eighth-place finish in the 5000-meter run, crossing at 15:36.35.
For the Yeowomen, first-year
Larisa Lewis set a new Oberlin record for indoor weight throw after a distance of 48-11.50. Lewis' throw earned her a second-place finish, while sophomore
Tiffany Henry was close behind with a fourth place throw of 46-11.00.
First-year
Caitlyn Grubb earned second place in the shot put with a throw of 40-11.75, as Lewis's throw of 38-03.25 was good for seventh place.
First-year Caroline Suma took fourth in the high jump, clearing a personal best 5-03.75.
The Yeowomen distance runners continued to run well, placing five Oberlin competitors in the top-10 of the 3000-meter run. Senior
Caroline Martin led the way with a fourth place finish, crossing at 10:39.32. Senior
Piper Nash (10:40.11) followed in sixth, while sophomore
Sarah Jane Kerwin (10:42.02), junior
Lauren Taylor (10:43.34), and senior
Hannah Wolfe (10:50.47) finished in seventh, eighth, and 10th, respectively.
The Oberlin track and field teams will continue their seasons on February 15 when they travel to Baldwin Wallace University for a 4:30 p.m. meet.
