Granville, Ohio – The 2013 North Coast Athletic Conference Combined-Events Championships concluded on Sunday evening with both Oberlin participants earning points toward next week's NCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

In the women's pentathlon, first-year Caroline Summa turned in a masterful performance on Sunday by totaling 2,930 points to place fourth overall while earning five team points for the Yeowomen in the process.

Summa's best events on the day were the 60-meter hurdles and the high jump as she tied for third in each. In the hurdles she stopped the clock at 9:73 and in the high jump she cleared 5-01.25. She ended the day by placing fourth in the 800-meter run with a timestamp of 2:30.70.

Summa's point total of 2,930 was just nine points shy of third place and 19 shy of the second-place finisher who was Ohio Wesleyan senior Emily Amburgey. Denison rookie Aedin Brennan won the event with 3,280 points.

The final three events of the men's heptathlon were contested today, which were the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000-meter run. It was a good day for Oberlin senior Sean Dembowski who moved up two spots from 10th to eighth to secure one team point for the Yeomen.

Dembowski's best event of the day was the 1,000 as he finished second overall in 2:52.75 to add 737 points to his final total of 3,938. He also placed sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 11-04.25.

Three of the top four finishers in the event were from Ohio Wesleyan University, including sophomore Matt Hunter who won it with 4,731 points.

Both Dembowski and Summa will play a large role for Oberlin when the Indoor Championships get underway in earnest next weekend.
