Track & Field Finishes Out Day One of the Kent State Golden Gala as Two Yeowomen Surpass School Record

Kent, Ohio- The Oberlin College women's track & field team placed two top-20 Yeowomen throwers in the first day of the Kent State Golden Gala.

Sophomore Tiffany Henry and first-year Larisa Lewis both broke the previous Oberlin indoor weight throw records and placed in the top-20 of the women's field of 50 throwers.

Henry finished 16th with a throw of 46-08 (14.22m), while Lewis finished two spots behind in 18th with a throw of 45-08 (13.92m). Both Yeowomen broke the previous record of 13.58m set by Henry last year at the All-Ohio Indoor Meet (2/11/12).

In the long jump, Jasmine Owens placed 11th with a jump of 16-02.25.

On the Yeomen's side, senior Sean Dembowski's  long jump of 18-09 was good for 18th place.  

Day Two of the Golden Gala will begin tomorrow December 8 at 10 a.m.
