Ashland, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field teams turned in many solid performances at the Ashland University Open on Saturday as they continue to prepare for next weekend's NCAC Championships.

Highlighting the day for the Yeomen was junior Stephen Williams as he checked in with a NCAA provisional qualifying time and lifetime best effort of 9:21.62 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. The performance was good for first place in the event and also set a new track record at Ashland.

Teammate Alexander Guo continued his amazing season by winning the triple jump with a leap of 45-11.25. Fellow field star Josh Gallagher also turned in an impressive performance by throwing the javelin 157-08, to finish sixth in the event behind members of Division I and II institutions.

On the women's end jumps coach Ray Harris has turned sophomore Jasmine Owens into one of the best leapers in the NCAC. Her talents were once again on display today as she posted a mark of 31-07.50 in the triple jump and covered 16-03.75 in the long jump. Those efforts were the best amongst DIII competitors.

Also running well for the Yeowomen was Amanda Miller and Sybil Levine. Miller posted the fastest DIII time in the 400 at 1:00.10, while Levine went double the distance in 2:20.73 to finish 17th overall and second amongst DIII peers in the 800.

Also competing today for the Yeomen at the NCAC Multi-Event Championships was Vlad Bursac. He currently rests in fourth place with 2,515 points. His best finish of the day came in the high jump where he tied for third with a mark of 5-04.25.

Bursac will complete the decathlon tomorrow, while the rest of the Yeomen and Yeowomen will be resting up for the conference championships next week at Oberlin.
