– The Oberlin College Track and Field Teams rounded out a nice weekend at the Washington University Invitational.

“This was a great start to the outdoor track season,” said Head Coach Ray Appenheimer. “I am excited that the team competed so well. We are looking forward to next weekend.”

In the women's long jump, sophomore Jasmine Owens finished in 6th place with a leap of 16 feet 7 inches.

Josh Gallagher capped off a great weekend with excellent showings in the men's discus and shot put. Gallagher was second in the discus with a throw of 146 feet 10 inches. He also took second place in the shot put with a throw of 47 feet .75 inches.

The women's 4 x 100 meter relay of Melissa Elie, Sophia Brancazio, Owens, and Laura Vernon teamed up to earn 8th place with a time of 50.60 seconds. On the men's side the 4 x 100 relay of Shawn Chrapczynski, Alex Guo, Saad Talha and Terrence Embry took 12th place in 44.88 seconds.

Senior Amanda Miller finished in 7th place in the women's 400 meter dash. She completed the event with a time of 1:00.80.

Junior Stephen Williams took second place in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:41.96.

The Track and Field team returns to action at the Bucknell Open on April 8th and the Marv Frye Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan on April 9th.
