BU Valentine Invitational Results l Greater Cleveland Championships Results

Oberlin, Ohio
– Distance specialists Joanna Johnson and Molly Martorella competed at the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Friday, while the rest of the Yeomen and Yeowomen were at the Greater Cleveland Championships at Baldwin-Wallace College.

Johnson made the most of her trip to Bean Town as she posted a national-qualifying time of 17.02.28 in the 5,000 meters. The timestamp also best her own school record in the event by over 15 seconds. Martorella ran the mile and finished in 5:09.05.

Highlighting the evening at Baldwin-Wallace was senior Josh Gallagher who set a new school record in the weight throw with a toss of 45-05.67 (13.86m). He bested his old record of 45-00.5 (13.73) by over five feet.

Other promising performances from B-W included Stephen Williams winning the mile in 4:28.72 and Justin Warner placing fourth in the 3,000 meters (9:08.41). Sean Dembowski also checked in fourth in the triple jump 39-01.67.

On the women's side it was Ava Keating and Jasmine Owens who had strong showings in the long jump. Keating placed third by covering 15-07, while Owens was fifth a mark of 15-05.5.

Nina Cole also turned in a strong run in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:15.86 to finish seventh overall.

The Oberlin track and field teams are in action today at the All-Ohio Championships at Baldwin-Wallace.
