Schultz First After Day One of the Combined Events Championships

Oberlin, Ohio – It should be no surprise to fans of Oberlin College and the North Coast Athletic Conference that senior Madeline Schultz is in first place after day one of the NCAC Combined Events Championships that are taking place at the Bob Kahn Track on the campus of Oberlin College.

Sophomore Ryann McChesney, who is also competing for the Yeowomen, sits in eighth place, while freshman Vlad Bursic is in sixth place in the men's decathlon.

Schultz, who is the defending champion and school record holder in the event, has 2,399 points through four scored events. She finished second in the 200 meters (27.38), 100-meter hurdles (16.33) and high jump (5-00.25).

McChesney, who has 1,819 points thus far, placed sixth in the 200 meters (28.58) and 100-meter hurdles (17.31).

Through five scored events, Bursic has 2,345 points.

The NCAC Combined Event Championships, which are a precursor to the full NCAC Championships that take place next weekend, will conclude tomorrow afternoon.
