Track and Field Continues to Progress

Oberlin, Ohio – At its second home meet of the indoor season, the Oberlin College track and field teams recorded multiple event winners.

“Each meet we continue to get better and better,” Head Coach Ray Appenheimer said. “We are continuing to improve our form and results as we progress towards the conference meet,”

The women's 4x200 relay team of Amanda Miller Madeline Schultz, Melissa Elie and Marissa Clardy turned in a season-best effort of 1:51.12 to win the event.

Miller, a junior from Toledo, Ohio, also won the 400 meters in 1:01.42.

Furthermore, fellow junior Laura Vernon won the pole vault by clearing 9-06.

The Yeowomen bested the five-team field with 129 points.

On the men's side, junior Josh Gallagher's heave of 46-04 in the shot put was good for first place.

Freshman Alexander Guo covered 41-09 in the triple jump to claim the top spot as well.

Shawn Chrapczynski built upon his impressive sophomore season by winning the 200 meters in 22.99.

Seth Wimberly added a win in the 400 meters with a mark of 51.10.

As a team the Yeomen placed third of four teams with 107 points. Edinboro won the event with 152 points.

Oberlin has a busy a week ahead as next Friday the teams will be split up between meets at the University of Akron, Boston University and another home meet. On Saturday most of the team will be competing at the All-Ohio Championships, while select individuals will still be participating in Boston.
