Oberlin Competes Against State Foes

The Oberlin College track and field teams competed against teams from across the state at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday.

With a limited roster, the Yeowomen placed 11th in the 19-team field with 14 points.

First-year Marissa Clardy guided the Yeowomen's effort by placing fourth in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 1:00.88. Junior Amanda Miller placed 10th with a mark of 1:02.21.

Sophomore Christine Moore recorded a sixth-place finish in the mile as she covered 5,280 feet in 5:26.20. Teammate Amanda Gracia ended two spots back at 5:31.57.

The Yeomen registered 12 points to finish in 15th place in the 19-team field.

Senior Seth Wimberly turned in the top Yeomen performance by placing third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.16.

Sophomore Ben Schild placed fourth in the 5,000 meters as he completed the course in 15:28.98.

First-year Alexander Guo covered 41-06 in the triple jump – finishing in 10th place, while junior Josh Gallagher threw the shot put 44-11.50 to place 12th overall.

The Oberlin track and field teams return to action next Friday at the Greater Cleveland Championships hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College.
