Meet Results
Berea, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Baldwin-Wallace College for the Sparky Adams Invitational Meet. A day full of sunshine provided the Yeomen and women the opportunity to turn in some nice performances.
The Yeowomen's multi-event standout,
Madeline Schultz, hit an NCAA Provisional Qualification time this afternoon. Schultz found her stride in the 400m hurdles, she crossed the line in 63.88 seconds, good enough for fourth place.
Senior distance runner
Nicky Ouellet turned the track twice in the 800m run finishing second in the event with a time of 2:16.51.
Oberlin's women's 4 x 100m relay squad of
Melissa Elie,
Laura Vernon, Schultz, and
Amanda Miller finish 3rd stopping the clock at 51.85 seconds.
Oberlin's men competed well and came up with some quality finishes. First-year,
Reshard El-Shair finished 5th in the 400m dash crossing the line in a speedy 49.86.
Fellow newcomer Shawn Charpczynski took 6th in the 200m dash with a time of 22.79 seconds.
Ryan King ran to a 4th place finish in the men's 800m run. King was less than a second off the pace crossing the line in 1:56.00.
Friday evening, April 24th Oberlin will welcome teams from across the state to compete in the Bob Kahn Invitational. The track will also be in full use on Saturday and Sunday as Oberlin plays host to the NCAC Multi-Event Championships.
The Oberlin College athletics department will hold a dedication ceremony on Friday at 5 p.m. to officially honor 1955 graduate Bob Kahn, the track and field complex bear his name. The ceremony will be held in front of the entrance to the track, across from the concession stand.
