Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field teams welcomed conference foes Hiram and Wooster to a wet Bob Kahn Track on Friday, but the Yeomen and Yeowomen battled through the conditions to win many events.
In addition to the action at Oberlin, sophomore
Joanna Johnson competed at Bucknell University and posted an NCAA provisionally qualifying time of 17:23.11 in the 5K.
“I was happy to see our kids compete tonight, even though the conditions were not great,” director of track and field
Ray Appenheimer said. “Plus it is always good to stay at home and run at a top notch facility.”
Converted soccer star
Joelle Sesar highlighted the day for the Yeowomen as she won the 200 meters in a time of 29.27 and was also victorious in the 100 meters at 13.98.
On the men's end,
Jacob Fogel controlled the throwing events as he took the top spot in the shot put with a toss of 11.64 meters and followed with a hurl of 24.22 meters in the hammer to earn the win.
The Yeomen also claimed spots one through five in the 3,000 meters with
Derek Lange touching the tape first in 9:26.84.
Oberlin will go right back to work tomorrow at the All-Ohio Championships on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.
