Berea, Ky. –
The Davenport Panthers offensive capitalized off of multiple Oberlin College miscues as they cruised to 16-7 and 11-6 wins over the Yeomen on Saturday afternoon.

It was apparent that Oberlin was playing outside for just second time this spring as costly errors in both games led to big innings for the Panthers and the demise of the Yeomen.

In game one, Oberlin jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with a pair of runs in the second and third innings. However, the Panthers responded with a seven-run fourth inning and never looked back. Yeomen starter Eric Gibbs took the loss as he was touched-up for five hits and five runs in three-plus innings of work. Davenport went on to add nine insurance runs that included a six-run sixth.

Senior #P.J. Carter# continued his hot start at the plate – going 2-for-3 with a double, home run and sac fly to register three RBIs.

In game two, first-year Jason James was let down by his defense as the Panthers scored eight unearned runs in a second inning the featured three Yeomen errors. All in all James gave up nine unearned runs in 1.1 innings.

Offensively, sophomore Ben Puterbaugh led the way by going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Fellow second-year player Kyle Buzzard also added a pair of hits.

Oberlin will look to get on track next weekend when it travels to Maryville, Tennessee, for doubleheaders against Muskingum and Maryville.
