(2010): Had one of the most successful offensive seasons in school history … Needed just 20 games to break previous school record in hits (43) … Set school records in hits (61), at bats (133), plate appearances (145), and total bases (80) … Finished the season leading the team in batting average (.459), slugging percentage (.602), on-base percentage (.497), runs scored (31), runs batted in (31), doubles (13), and multi-hit games (21) … Struck out only five times in his 145 plate appearances … Had a career best 19-game hitting streak which lasted from March 27 till April 14 when he was held hitless in game one of a double header versus Case Western Reserve University … Was named NCAC Player of the Week twice (3/22/10 and 4/5/10) … Named to the College Baseball Foundation's
National All-Star Lineup (4/6/10) … Selected to appear in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd (4/22/10) … Named First Team All-NCAC and to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Mideast Region Third-Team.
(2009): As a sophomore.... Ben played and started in 39 of the 40 games for the Yeomen. He led the team with 126 at bats, hits (40), and was tied for first in homeruns (2). Ben hit .317 and was 2nd on the team in runs scored with 24.
Prior to Oberlin: Ben is a 2007 graduate of Jackson High School in Canton, Ohio. At Jackson, Ben was a two-year starter for the baseball team. He earned All-Federal League Honors and his team won the Federal League. Ben was also Captain of the baseball team.
Ben was born on April 19, 1989 and is the son of Michael and Christina Puterbaugh. Ben enjoys playing Super Nintendo and is a Politics major.
