Oberlin Gets Tuned-Up at Kent State

Kent, Ohio – In effort to prepare for the upcoming conference championships, select Oberlin College track and field athletes competed at the Kent State Tune-up meet on Saturday.

Junior Seth Wimberly was Oberlin's most impressive performer as he posted a conference-leading time of 22.93 in the 200 meters. He also turned in a personal-best mark of 49.92 in the 400-meter dash.

Teammate Reshard El-Shair also shined in the 200 and 400 – matching a season-best effort of 23.03 in the 200 and following with a new personal-record of 50.34 in the 400. He also stopped the clock in 8.90 in the 60-meter hurdles.

Amanda Miller clocked in at 1:01.06 and teammate Madeline Schultz was just one spot back at 1:01.13 in the 400-meter dash. Schultz also cleared 4-11 in the high jump to place 12th overall. 

Laura Vernon covered 9-08 in the pole vault to place 16th in the event.

Shultz, Miller, Ali Gemma and Vernon combined to complete the 4x400 in 4:10.89 - just 89-hundreths-of-a-second back of their season-best effort.

Oberlin will return to action on Friday night when it plays host to the Last Chance Qualifier at the John W. Heisman Field House.
