Monique set a school record in the weight throw Friday night at the Dan Kinsey Meet. The senior All-American hit a season-best of mark of 58-07.25 to best Ana Richardson's mark of 58-01.00 she made last year at nationals. Newton's throw is currently second best in the country and still owns the top throw in the shot put with her toss of 48-02.75 in the opening meet.
