Sophia Anderson was appointed as the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications for Oberlin in July of 2025.
Anderson assists with the promotion of Oberlin's 21 varsity teams, helping manage the GoYeo website, social media platforms, content creation, game day operations, and record keeping.
Anderson comes to Oberlin after spending the last year working for Amherst College. While at Amherst, the Vermont native helped cover all duties of the athletic communications office for the Mammoths' 27 programs, including serving as the primary statistician for several NCAA Tournament games. Previously, she was the Sports Information Assistant for Smith College and contracted with the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference.
Before Smith, Anderson was a cross country and track and field student-athlete for Mount Holyoke College and worked in the athletic communications office for three years. During her time as a Lyon, she received several honors for her contributions to the Athletic Communications Department, including the Athletic Director's Award (2022) and the Golden Lyon Award (2021).
Anderson earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Mount Holyoke College in 2022 before completing her master's in exercise and sport studies from Smith College in 2025.
