Lydia Mitchell is in her fourth season as assistant women's soccer coach at Oberlin College in 2025-26.
Mitchell has helped coach 12 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) selections, a three-time NCAC Offensive Player of the Year, an NCAC All-Decade recipient, two All-Ohio honorees, and two United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region athletes. In the classroom, the Crimson and Gold have produced 40 NCAC Academic Honor Roll recipients, ten College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District honorees, and four Academic All-Ohio awards while Mitchell was on staff.Â
Prior to joining Oberlin, Mitchell was an assistant coach for the Knox track and field program for one season while also serving as a student engagement ambassador for the college.
A two-sport standout at Knox College competing for the women's soccer and track and field programs, Mitchell finished her career helping lead the Prairie Fire secure their fifth consecutive regular-season Midwest Conference (MWC) title. Mitchell was a USC All-Region Second-Team selection, leading the MWC with 16 goals and ranking second in the nation with nine game-winning goals in 2021. A two-time All-MWC First-Team selection, she was also the league's Newcomer of the Year in 2018, helping lead the team to an NCAA Tournament berth.
In addition to her success on the pitch, Mitchell currently holds Knox's indoor and outdoor 400-meter records with times of 59.05 and 57.91, respectively.Â

Mitchell graduated from Knox in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in political science.
