Eric Klopfenstein enters his second year with the Oberlin College track & field teams in 2025-26 after he joined the coaching staff prior to the 2024-25 season.
In his first year with the Crimson and Gold, Klopfenstein helped coach an NCAC Champion in the 400m hurdles and an NCAA qualifier.
Prior to Oberlin, Klopfenstein coached at Marietta for two seasons. During his tenure, he coached a two-time All-American and four Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) champions. Before Marietta, Klopfenstein was a graduate assistant coach for Division II Lake Erie College for two years, coaching a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference champions and helping lead 10 athletes to top-50 national rankings.
Klopfenstein earned his bachelor’s in education from Marietta in 2020 before completing his master’s in education with a coaching concentration from Lake Erie College in 2023.Â
