Gretchen Micklitsch joined the Oberlin College women’s soccer staff in November of 2016 and is the lead assistant coach of the program.
Prior to her arrival at Oberlin, Micklitsch spent the previous four seasons (2013-16) as the head girl’s soccer coach at Magnificat High School in nearby Rocky River, Ohio.
She guided the Blue Streaks to the OHSAA Division I state semifinals in 2013 and 2014, marking the first and second times in school history that Magnificat advanced that far in the state tournament.
During her tenure she guided the Blue Streaks to three district championships while compiling a 53-18-9 record. She oversaw three teams (freshmen, JV and varsity) and managed a team of five coaches.
Micklitsch also served as the the girls director of Liberty FC (2011-15) and has been a part of the Olympic Development Program of the Ohio Youth Soccer Association North since 2009.
She played collegiately at Duke University from 1988-91 where she was an inaugural member of their women’s varsity team. She earned a bachelor’s degree in developmental psychology and a K-8 teaching degree from Duke in 1992.
She holds a US Soccer Federation "B" and a US Soccer Federation National Youth License. Micklitsch, who is also a CrossFit Level 1 trainer, also earned her NSCAA Premier Diploma in January of 2016.
