After four years with Oberlin, Amanda Phillips was named the Director of Athletics Communications and Game Day Operations in March 2025. Philips joined the Crimson and Gold in January 2021 as the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications and promoted to Associate Director of Athletics Communications & Digital Media Strategist in the summer of 2023. Beginning in the fall of 2024, Phillips began serving as an Assistant Coach for the women's lacrosse team in addition to her role in the Athletics Communications Office.
At the forefront of enhancing the visibility and brand of Oberlin Athletics, Phillips leads the charge in advanced digital media strategy, content creation, and the Crimson and Gold's online presence. Phillips oversees the department's website, photography, and social media platforms, in addition to the recruiting, training, and scheduling of student-employees.
A member of College Sports Communicators (CSC), Phillips is involved in several committees within the governing body. Namely, Phillips is the co-founder of CSC Pride, a committee focused on uplifting and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community within college athletics, and providing educational opportunities to athletics departments. Phillips is also an administrator on the CSC Creative & Digital Design Contest Committee, and a member of CSC-U.
Phillips is also member of Women Leaders in Sports, where she was a 2022 Women Leaders Symposium Finalist.
In January 2024, Phillips joined forces with
Ashleigh Jones (DePauw University)Â to establish the NextGen Athletics Communicators Summit (NACS). This initiative, in collaboration with the North Coast Athletic Conference and its partners, serves as a gathering for current undergraduate students passionate about pursuing careers in athletics communications, media, public relations, and related fields. NACS provides a platform for attendees to engage with industry experts through insightful speakers, interactive presentations, and group discussions, delving into the evolving trends, technologies, and strategies within the dynamic realm of athletics communications.
In November 2023,
Phillips was named to the College Sports Communicators 30 Under 30 List, a recognition that honors up-and-coming strategic, creative, and digital athletics communications professionals throughout the CSC membership. Most recently, Phillips earned the
Best of Division III honor for Game Day Graphics for her Track & Field North Coast Athletic Conference Championships design.
Phillips comes to Oberlin after a two-year stint at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY. She was a Graduate Assistant before being promoted to Assistant Sports Information Director in January 2020. Phillips covered all 33 of the university’s athletic teams, serving as the primary contact for women’s soccer, women’s basketball, women’s bowling, men’s lacrosse, tennis, competitive cheer, and competitive dance.

Before joining the Sports Information Department, Phillips attended the University of the Cumberlands, where she graduated in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Fitness & Sport Management and a minor in Psychology. An integral part of UC’s women’s lacrosse team, Phillips is one of two players in UC's history to start and play in every game during their four-year tenure. Phillips also led the team to two conference championships (2018, 2019) in the Appalachian Athletic and Mid-South conferences. In her senior year, Phillips volunteered in the Sports Information Department, helping with broadcasts, live stats, and article writing.
A native of Westerville, OH, Phillips earned a Master’s in Business Administration from her alma mater in December 2020.
