Eric Line enters his second year with the Oberlin College cross country and track & field teams after being hired as an assistant coach in the summer of 2024. 

In his first year on staff, Line helped coach the men’s cross country team to an NCAC team title in 2024. In cross country, Line has helped mentor 11 All-NCAC finishers, two All-Region finishers, 12 NCAC All-Academic honorees, two United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic recipients, and two USTFCCCA Team Academic awards. 

Before his return to Oberlin, Line was an assistant coach for the cross country and track & field programs at Case Western Reserve for two years. Line also served as an assistant coach for Runacious from 2015-2018. In addition to his coaching career, Line has held teaching positions at Bowling Green State University, the University of Cincinnati, Cleveland State University, and Hiram College, instructing various biology courses. 

A four-year member of the Oberlin College cross country and track & field teams, Line was the 2009 NCAC and Great Lakes Region Newcomer of the Year and the All-Ohio Division III Cross Country Freshman Men’s Runner of the Year. During his rookie track season, he was the All-Ohio Division III Outdoor Track Champion in the 5,000m. In his senior year, Line was the captain of the men’s cross country team. 

Line earned his bachelor’s degree in biology and anthropology from Oberlin in 2013 before completing his master’s in biology from Bowling Green State University in 2021.
