Summary

Biography

Mark is a lawyer and a founding partner of the Albany, New York, law firm Gleason, Dunn, Walsh & O’Shea.

He graduated from Oberlin in 1977 with a double major in Economics and Sociology/Anthropology. Mark was a three-sport athlete at Oberlin participating in Lacrosse, Ice Hockey and Soccer, and was inducted into the Heisman Club Hall of Fame in 2008. He continues to play competitive “old-man” lacrosse and enjoys pond hockey, various racket sports, bicycling and hiking.

Mark’s passion for the Heisman Club stems from his belief that the life lessons learned from coaches and on the athletic fields (and ice) are among the most valuable that are learned at Oberlin. He notes that there are few other places where students have the opportunity to learn how to handle success with humility and failure with grace, and to learn and accept your place among your peers. Student athletes also learn to make consequential decisions in the moment.

The friendships he made with teammates are special to Mark and are enduring. Mark’s daughter, Caroline (2010), also played lacrosse at Oberlin; his son, Luke, played lacrosse at Hamilton College (2013).
