Oberlin College Athletics

The Heisman Club Board

Clayton Koppes

Biography

The Heisman Club Board was most happy to welcome professor Clayton Koppes in the Spring of 2015. Most of us know him as a professor of history, but he has served the Oberlin community in many capacities, from provost to dean to acting president in 2000.

He joined the Heisman Club Board because he wished to inspire Oberlin students to develop a habit of lifetime fitness. He exemplifies that habit himself by working out consistently. His other joys include music, art, travel, and time with intimate friends.

His finest memories of Oberlin, he says, will be the parade of rewarding students.

"I used to think that fitness was something you were born into or just happened. Now I know it's something you need to commit your whole life."
